About the designer

Marcel Gascoin [1907-1986] est un designer français, pionnier du mobilier fonctionnel et modulable d′après-guerre.

Né au Havre, il s′est intéressé dès sa jeunesse à l′aménagement intérieur, notamment à partir des cabines de bateaux. Menuisier-ébéniste et diplômé de l′Ecole nationale supérieure des arts décoratifs, il se forme durant la période des mouvements d′avant-garde du début du XXème siècle.

Il a été l′un des premiers à mettre l′accent sur l′importance de la fonctionnalité et du confort dans la conception de meubles, en évitant les ornements inutiles. Ses créations étaient souvent axées sur la modularité et la polyvalence, ce qui les rendait adaptées aux petits espaces et aux intérieurs modernes.

Based in Paris, the gallery represents and edits collectible pieces in limited edtion. Every work is original and delivered with a certificate of authenticity from the artist. We provide council to our clients in their acquisitions and assist in personalised orders. Our international network and unique, cultivated relationships allow us to present original and unique works.

We favour a delivery service adapted to the value and the nature of the pieces offered. Our partners, galleries and artists work with couriers qualified for the transportation of artworks all around the world. In order to assist the clients, Kolkhoze supervises the transportation up until the final destination. Every delivery requires an online quotation that will be provided within the next three working days. The clients can also collect their item themselves.
