About the designer

Johan Viladrich
French designer, based in Rotterdam, The Netherlands

A pure design with essential forms is what characterises the aesthetic of Johan Viladrich.

In his work he aims to reveal the inherent beauty of materials through refined surface treatments and subtle combinations. He uses the mass of metals such as bronze, steel or copper to create radical structures in which all superfluous elements have disappeared.

Johan attaches as much importance to the final appearance of his pieces as to the mechanisms making them exist. Bolts, straps and joints are magnified and turned into intrinsic parts of a whole. The designs are transparent and each piece is a search for balance, only reachable through a meticulous work of proportions.

ABOUT THE PIECE

The RB02 bench is a brutal assemblage of materials held together with black rubber bands. With this seemingly improvised connection, aluminum plates, steel tubes and stainless steel rods are forming the fundamental structure of a bench.

Here, as materials are stacked onto one another, the trace of the maker is absent, shaping and drawing are non-existent. Only a careful selection of materials, finishes and proportions remains, questioning the integrity of the bench as a complete object.

Based in Paris, the gallery represents and edits collectible pieces in limited edtion. Every work is original and delivered with a certificate of authenticity from the artist. We provide council to our clients in their acquisitions and assist in personalised orders. Our international network and unique, cultivated relationships allow us to present original and unique works.

We favour a delivery service adapted to the value and the nature of the pieces offered. Our partners, galleries and artists work with couriers qualified for the transportation of artworks all around the world. In order to assist the clients, Kolkhoze supervises the transportation up until the final destination. Every delivery requires an online quotation that will be provided within the next three working days. The clients can also collect their item themselves.
