Studio Raw Material is an ongoing exploration of geology in terms of material and processes. Our studio and workshop are based in the desert plains of western India.
Offcuts of marble form the starting point for our practice. All marble fragments occupy a liminal position in a composition and contribute functionally in relation to the others.
We study marble craft observing building techniques used in ancient Indian temples and architectural monuments. We explore these alternate aspects of craft – the structure and mathematics of balance, building techniques based on weight and gravity. All our pieces use these principles of joinery; they are constructed rather assembled without the use of any adhesives or mortar.

THE OFFCUT SERIES
As splinters of cultural importance or wasteful debris created by man, fragments provide traces of their past and have helped create an understanding of the physical world. To us, each fragment is unique with its individual history and abstract notions of origin, identity and possibilities of rectification.
The Offcut series explores limits of balance within a set of geometric forms. We have composed these fragments through careful consideration of their materiality, structure and mathematics of balance. Various fragments are precisely placed to create a whole.
Offcut 05 uses principles of joinery; it is constructed rather assembled without the use of any adhesives or mortar.

Based in Paris, Kolkhoze represents artists and designers and produces collectible works in limited editions. Each piece is crafted by exceptional artisans using the finest materials, with respect for ethical and responsible production practices. Every work is accompanied by a certificate of authenticity issued by the artist. We offer personalised guidance in acquisitions and bespoke commissions, overseeing each project from conception to completion.

Kolkhoze arranges worldwide delivery through specialised fine art and high-end furniture transporters, ensuring that each piece is handled with the utmost care and attention. The gallery and its partners oversee every stage of the process, from collection to final destination, with services tailored to the nature and value of each work. We provide tailored estimates for delivery and installation, with formal quotations issued upon order confirmation. Clients may also arrange their own transportation or collection, with the gallery at their disposal to assist with the necessary arrangements.
