Design studio based in Mexico City

Ewe Studio is dedicated to creating handcrafted limited edition sculptural and functional objects. They are devoted to the preservation and advancement of Mexico’s rich artisan heritage, and they embrace new mediums and languages for the execution of each piece.

For the creation of Sincretismo’s Partera chair, EWE Studio looked deep into the past and found its inspiration from the shape of a birthing chair commonly used in Mexico, while making their own abstraction.

The chair sits low with integrity on top of its two base legs, the dramatic character and expression is the result of a radical volume that holds a wide horizontal extended seat intersected by a long perpendicular backrest.

The chair is embracing the combination of curved and angular surfaces. The shapes and textures are created with basic tools by hand and finished on its surface with an irregular carved skin, built out of oak wood with chisel and chainsaw by the expert hands. Finally, the wood has been burnt and sealed creating a deep, dark, rich color. The result is simple yet dramatic.

Based in Paris, the gallery represents and edits collectible pieces in limited edtion. Every work is original and delivered with a certificate of authenticity from the artist. We provide council to our clients in their acquisitions and assist in personalised orders. Our international network and unique, cultivated relationships allow us to present original and unique works.

We favour a delivery service adapted to the value and the nature of the pieces offered. Our partners, galleries and artists work with couriers qualified for the transportation of artworks all around the world. In order to assist the clients, Kolkhoze supervises the transportation up until the final destination. Every delivery requires an online quotation that will be provided within the next three working days. The clients can also collect their item themselves.
